Datablocks

Rectangles are the most popular shape in information visualisation. they are not just applied in the classic bar chart or in the sophisticated tree diagrams, but also in many other ways.

Everywhere we look, we see rectangular structures. In windows, doors, floor tiles. tables, cereal boxes, lego bricks and buildings, the rectangle is the most used shape in a number of domains, because of its many good qualities.

They are incredibly effective in utilizing all space, nothing is wasted when stacking blocks.
usually projects that use this method of visualising information are quite dense in nature.

the patterns achieved from using this method are also very mathematical and almost machine in the ways they are so ordered and regimented.
