First Contact / Information Terminals
Other than the entrance sign, the information terminal is something that should be introduced to a person on their arrival in the building.
Blenheim walk have several of these dotted around the college, however most of them are poorly located and confusing to read.
Tackling this should be my first job as it will allow me to then get into more detail with other signage. As I move through the building the need to get more specific will increase.
Above is the terminal that is located as you come in through the main entrance next to the reception. It is at an awkward height and poorly lit.
After having examined the sign I have found that all the information is necessary how ever it is laid out in a confusing way.
Everything is the same colour which makes it hard to distinguish areas from one another. There is also no floor plan. This is essential as it acts as a min map making people feel more at ease in their surroundings.
The room numbers are also displayed next to every area. While these numbers are essential I think it is confusing to list them next to every area. That is something that will only be necessary when people get further into the building.
