On The Beach Image Idea

These are some illustrations for the book cover on the beach.

one of the main features in the book is a submarine which travels from melbourne to the U.S looking for life after a nuclear war. I thought that this would be an appropriate image for the cover

i wanted to create the feeling of isolation on the book cover and I think this has been achieved well with this illustration.

This book cover shows an apocalyptic sky, however i think this ruins the mystery of the image and it also takes the viewers eyes off the focal point...which is the submarine.
