What Is Science Fiction?

There are many elements which make up the genre of science fiction. It is therefore important for me to gain an understanding of these elements and the sub genres of the science fiction genre so that I can choose the most appropriate titles for the box set.

Science Fiction stereotypically involves aspects and themes such as space travel, time travel, alien life forms and advanced technology. However there are other aspects of the Science fiction genre that need to be included.

Dystopian books of future governments are also involved in this genre along with books such as the well known Frankenstein which can also be classified as horror.

From already gained knowledge and research of the genre I have found that it is easy to classify most of the elements of Science Fiction genre into sub-categories that would be good for creating shortlists for books considered for the box set.
