The first edition print of dune makes use of a swirly, wind swept typeface to illustrate the surface weather on the sandy palnet of Arrakikis. A very nice cover with an oil painting like texture.
These other dune covers make use of illustration to capture the readers attention and imaginations
All of the other dune book covers seem to have made use of the sandy planet of Arrakis to illustrate their covers. This makes sense as this is the most talked about planet in the book, and that in which the title is given to.
when designing the cover of my edition I will take this into consideration.
