The Signage System
This brief would see me taking on the task of making a more modern and interactive sign system for a college that has just had a partial face lift.
The system would be undertaken to incorporate the entire Blenheim Walk building. This would include all the courses and would involve them being mapped out and categorized so that people would have a better understanding of were different people were in the building.
This signage system would be complete with 'You Are Here' access points around the college so that people could get there bearings as to where they were in the college instantly. This combined with a publication, including maps and information about each course would make anyone feel comfortable in their surroundings. This would be made available to people as they entered the college.
Target Audience
The target audience would include anyone that has ever or is likely to set foot in the college. Including staff and students who may have already been a part of the college for years. I have been here nearly 3 and there are definitely places that I have not even set foot within the building.
The signage system should be useful to people who are just visiting, as well as the people who occupy the building for most of the time.
Design Direction
as far as design direction is concerned, I would like to make a system that was made to be easily understandable by everyone, including the blind. This would involve me creating some signage in brail. I would also like to have some of the key signs made to display several different languages.
The system would also have to fit the style and architecture of the building and I would like to design something that incorporates and takes advantage of the buildings design.
